The employee in control of payments – made or received – of a government unit – federal, state or local needs to report these transactions to the IRS in tax form 1099-G. The payments made include unemployment compensation; income tax refunds, credits, or offsets; reemployment trade adjustment assistance (RTAA) payments; taxable grants; or agricultural payments. Amounts received by such government unit on account of payments on a Commodity Credit Corporation (CCC) loan have also to be reported in this form.
